This property enjoys a pleasantly secluded rural location in mid-Wales, just one mile from the attractive market town of Rhayader, the first town on the River Wye. The town boasts a good range of shops and eateries, as well as being home to the Elan Valley Visitor Centre which makes a great first port of call for those who want to enjoy the area’s miles of scenic walks. On the outskirts of the town, Gigrin Farm is a great place for wildlife lovers to spend an afternoon, as it is home to the Red Kite feeding centre, with daily feeds when guests can see these magnificent birds up close. Further afield, guests may like to visit the literary town of Hay-on-Wye or the seaside town of Aberystwyth.

The front door of this attractive mill cottage opens directly into the spacious dining room which has been attractively finished with a beamed ceiling, large feature fireplace, and a dining table which comfortably seats six. Moving through to the lounge, guests will find a cosy, relaxing space with a warming wood burner, TV, and Blu-ray player, whilst the fantastic sun room offers a second lounge area, which enjoys panoramic views across the patio to the countryside beyond. Keen cooks will be pleased to see that the property’s kitchen is well-equipped with everything they will need to prepare their favourite dishes, including a Range-style oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and washer/dryer. There is also a wet room with shower and WC on the ground floor. On the first floor, meanwhile, guests will find three stylish bedrooms. Two of these are king-size rooms, both of which can be made up as twin rooms on request, thanks to their zip-and-link beds. One of these benefits from an en-suite shower room with a shower and WC, whilst the other has an en-suite WC. The third bedroom is a twin room which, again, has an en-suite shower and WC.

Outside, there is a patio garden which is accessed through the sun room, offering garden furniture and a BBQ. Beyond this, there is a beautiful streamside garden, which is a fantastic place to relax, but guests should be aware that children must be supervised at all times.

  • 3 bedrooms-1 king-size zip and link with en-suite shower room and WC, 1 double with en-suite shower room and WC and 1 king-size zip and link with en-suite WC (both king-size bedrooms can be made up as a twin on request)
  • Wet room with shower and WC on the ground floor
  • TV and Blu-ray player
  • Oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and washer/dryer
  • Travel cot and highchair available
  • Underfloor heating
  • Shop and pub within walking distance
  • Please ensure children are supervised in the garden, due to the stream
  • This property will be decorated for Christmas
  • Arrival: 16:30 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details
  • 1 dog allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week

A tastefully restored pair of 18th-century mill cottages, with clever extensions at either end (sunroom and wet room). A well equipped home from home with three cosy double bedrooms and three communal spaces (not including the kitchen). In mid-summer it is a green oasis shared with the local bird population (a jar of seed is provided!). The cottage is in a fantastic location about a 15-20 walk into Rhayader. The furnishings are comfortable and the bonus of two sitting rooms was great. The Kitchen is kitted out to a high standard with everything you need. The arrival package of biscuits, mince pies etc was a nice touch and was greatly received.
