This quaint spot has everything you need within walking distance - a post office, a pub, and a church - all surrounded by stunning natural beauty. The property boasts a flourishing kitchen garden where guests are encouraged to gather fresh produce, and friendly free-range chickens provide fresh eggs for your morning breakfast. Situated among historic Welsh Border towns, the cottage is close to Hay-on-Wye, renowned for its bookshops and annual literary festival, and offering a variety of independent shops and eateries throughout the year. The foodie paradise of Ludlow and the historic city of Hereford are also nearby. Outdoor enthusiasts will love the surrounding English-Welsh border countryside, with excellent walking trails such as Offa’s Dyke and opportunities for adventure in the Brecon Beacons National Park. Activities like cycling, pony trekking, and river experiences on the Wye, including canoeing and kayaking, are all available locally. Bike hire can be arranged directly with the owner for an additional fee.

The pathway leads you through the vibrant kitchen garden to the property’s entrance. Inside, the open-plan living area features original exposed beams and carefully curated furniture, creating a cosy and welcoming atmosphere. Relax on the floral sofa and enjoy a movie on the Smart TV after a day of exploring. The fully-equipped kitchen includes an electric oven and hob, fridge, dishwasher, microwave, wine cooler, and a Nespresso machine for that perfect morning coffee. Tucked away is a dining table for two, providing a lovely spot for meals. Upstairs, you’ll find a beautifully appointed super king-size bedroom nestled in the eaves, complete with freshly laundered bedding. A stable door offers views of the kitchen garden - a delightful scene to wake up to. The en-suite bathroom features a luxurious bathtub for soaking or a waterfall shower to start the day refreshed. Fluffy towels and robes are provided for an extra touch of comfort. Outside, the lounge area opens to a private patio terrace overlooking the garden. Unwind with a glass of wine, or enjoy the small fire pit, perfect for roasting marshmallows under the stars. The property offers on-site parking for two cars.

As well as being very luxurious, the accommodation is fuelled by a state of the art wood chip boiler (tours available) and solar panels, offering carbon neutral stays. There is the option of offsetting your carbon emissions from travelling to the property by buying a tree / trees which the owners will plant and record. Any contribution goes to a local woodland regeneration programme the owners are working on to help regenerate biodiversity in the local area.

We had a lovely holiday at The Stables. Fiona was so friendly and welcoming and the standard of accommodation she offers is quite exceptional. We would highly recommend this little hide away in the country to anyone looking for a peaceful chill out holiday , while having access to village life . We are definitely going back!

A perfect Birthday treat! The Stables has everything you need and is beautifully decorated. Peaceful and romantic, really nice walks from the door and spectacular Hergest Ridge a short drive away. The accommodation was perfect, exceptionally clean, very comfortable and the welcome pack was of a very high quality. There were bowls, towels and throws provided for our dogs. The owners were very friendly and helpful. We loved the woodland. We look forward to visiting again.

If peace and quiet and nature is what you want this is the place for you. Compact and cosy, lovely and warm, well equipped stay for 2 people. Had a great time at the cottage our dogs loved the walks round the woods direct from the door. The place has everything you need lovely quiet private location we really enjoyed our stay. Lots to do an see in the surrounding areas an the pub up the road is a must for a drink with the very friendly host an locals. A trip back in time.

We had a fantastic four night stay. The cottage is really cosy and full of character but with modern luxurious touches, the super king bed and bath were wonderful especially after long walks. We have a nervous rescue dog so the secluded location was perfect for us and it was wonderful to be able to let her off lead in the woodland behind the cottagRead moree. We had a wonderful long weekend at The Stables. The cottage is decorated beautifully, spotlessly clean, and the best equipped cottage weve ever stayed in. The Super King bed was really comfy. The cottage is comfortable and well equipped. We appreciated the welcome items provided by Fiona and Will. We enjoyed visits in the locality especially Hergest Croft and Westonbury Mill Water Garden.
