A lovely cosy property in a convenient location to visit the local area. The owners are really friendly and very easy to approach if necessary. The hut has all the amenities you need and the under floor heating was a hit with my two dogs whose bed was on the floor.

The directions given made the Hut easy to find and the welcome pack including a fab Lemon drizzle cake was really great. The owners were very welcoming and gave us details of the local shops and pubs, which we made use of. The Hut had everything we needed for our stay and the underfloor heating made sure that the temperature was always perfect for Read moreus. I had a really wonderful week in the Shepherds Retreat. It provided the complete peace and privacy I was looking for, in a really well appointed, comfortable space. It's surrounded by beautiful countryside in which to walk, but is also only a short drive away from places of interest such as Hereford and Hay On Wye. We loved our stay at The Shepherds Retreat. We booked so we could take our anxious dog somewhere he could feel comfortable and run free without being surrounded by outside noise and this was completely perfect. The outside area of the hut looks a little shabby,especially compared to the photos,we were told it was due to be replaced.The veranda can be slippery and the steps appear to be rotting and are wonky.The parking area has some significant dips in the gravel and,because it is uphill,was difficult to park.We needed a run-up to stop the wheels from spiRead morenning.The interior was lovely, warm, cosy and very well equipped. Lovely shepherds retreat in a quiet location, remote but not too much with a local pub within walking distance and a shop a few minutes drive away, ideal if you like not to be disturbed, very much recommended.

The Shepherds Hut retreat is everything you could wish it to be. The views are spectacular and the Hut itself is very private with a fully enclosed garden which gave our little dog a lovely place to play . We had such a wonderful stay here. Sheila & Ollie were so genuinely friendly & helpful. It was like we had known them for years! Fantastic idyllic retreat, perfect for a relaxing weekend. The shepherd's hut is cosy and well-equipped with it's own veranda, and even with our large dog we enough space to make ourselves comfortable. The location is very private and peaceful, and the night sky is amazing due to the absence of light pollution. Quirky, cosy, inviting and relaxing. The Shepherds Retreat was amazing. We wanted for nothing. Did a walk a day (5-7 miles). Lovely surroundings. Recommend the local pub and a wonder to Longtown. It's very tiny, but so sweet! We love the view out of the hut and miss our little home now a little bit. The place is perfect for daytrips to the mountains, but also to Cardiff and Bristol. Sheila and Oliver are very kind and helpful if you have to know anything. Great two weeks in our little home!

Perfect base for our hiking holiday! Out of the way enough to be able to relax in our own space but accessible for shops and local pubs etc. Sheila and Oliver were both very friendly and welcoming! Would definitely stay again next time we return to Wales. Our dog loved it too!

Just lovely, totally relaxing! Cows and sheep right outside, cant hear a pin drop at night. Have stayed in a shepherds hut before with just a log burner - freeze or boil! The underfloor heating made this such a nicer and more comfortable experience. The warmest welcome from Sheila. Would go again.

Warm, cosy and relaxing. Very comfortable bed and the hot shower was a bonus. Nice touch was the cider, wine, butter and eggs left for us. Great environment for walking and enjoying a drink in the parlour pub in the village. Highly recommended.

This is a really lovely little shepherd's hut. We were very cosy (and it was very cold out). Everything is cleverly laid out to make the most of the space and the crockery, bedding etc are good quality. This is a very peaceful and historic part of the country and there are great pubs. So it was the perfect long weekend!
