An enchanting 17th-century country cottage, this retreat is Grade II*listed and boasts a beautiful blend of contemporary style and appliances alongside original features. The ancient village of Grosmont, where this property is based, is renowned for its community spirit with the village having been described by the press as ‘One of the best villages to call home’, and ‘The most beautiful village in Britain’, it’s a delightful destination full of atmosphere that will capture your heart. The Brecon Beacons National Park is within 7 miles while on the edge of the village sits the crumbling ruins of Grosmont Castle, a popular Norman fortification and one of the ‘Three Castles of Gwent’.

The carved door heads and ancient oak front entrance carved with ‘1673’ complete with colossal iron key welcome you into this medieval Welsh cottage. Antiques and original oil paintings enhance the grandeur, in addition to exposed stone walls, rustic wooden beams and patterned tiles and fabrics throughout. The games room is a true gem with snooker and pool table, wall-mounted Smart TV, wood burner, and stylish monochrome James Bond blinds. Just off this room, a workspace ensures you can stay connected and there’s a kids’ playroom too for youngsters. Dine at the six-seater breakfast bar or the extendable ten-person table in the contemporary kitchen/diner. A Smart TV, AGA and separate double electric oven, gas hob, large fridge/freezer with water dispenser and icemaker, and two dishwashers provide a social space with wonderful amenities, suited to big groups. There is also a washing machine and a tumble dryer located in the utility room. Books line the shelves of a pretty downstairs WC, while upstairs five bedrooms with en-suites provide sumptuous spaces to relax. The wooden spiral stairs leading to this floor are not standard, they’re period of age and slightly uneven. One of the bedrooms is accessed just off the lounge staircase and boasts a super-king-size zip-and-link bed and roll-top slipper bath. The luxurious ‘Loft Suite’ at the top of the house has a king-size sleigh bed with separate coffee table and seating, Nespresso machine, kettle, Smart TV, and a Loaf single-person sofa bed.

Seek peace and quiet in the enclosed patio garden which overlooks the surrounding hills. It’s the ideal setting for your morning coffee or a group lunch alfresco with outdoor table and chairs, BBQ, sun loungers, kids’ mini croquet and a fire pit. Roadside parking is subject to availability.

The Town Farm house is beautiful both because it is located in the stunning Brecon Beacons and because the house itself is steeped in history and has been updated to enhance its age and comfort. A beautifully maintained property in a brilliant and historic location. Nothing lacking in the facilities and equipment. Lovely views of the valley and conveniently located next to the friendly local pub which serves excellent food.

We loved our stay at Town Farm. Its a wonderful house absolutely oozing charm and character in a pretty village. Loved the bedrooms.very comfy beds! There is a beautiful en suite with every bedroom.
