This lovely coach house is set on an established working farm within the heart of the Forest of Dean. Finished with a stylish flair, the 17th-century, adults-only rural retreat is perfect for a romantic getaway with up to two dogs. The cottage is set against a breathtaking backdrop of rolling fields and woodlands, and offers a unique safari-style experience. Indulge in rare peace and tranquillity while you walk through the woodland and enjoy the outdoor pool with a backdrop of established gardens. The attractions of the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley are within easy reach, and there are a range of walks taking in local must-visit destinations such as Symonds Yat Rock (7 miles). The vibrant market town of Ross-on-Wye (3.5 miles) with its brass bandstand next to the river and local produce market is also not to be missed.
Take a moment to soak up the valley and landscaped gardens before arriving at your front door where you are free to unload. Step inside to the ground floor offering a vast space that has been cleverly finished with both an eclectic and rustic style. A hand-carved four-poster king-size bed takes centre stage, dressed in pure linen and feather pillows. There is a wood burner with cosy armchairs where you can curl up and enjoy a good book, or maybe lounge on the day bed and enjoy the views from the large windows that front the barn. There is also a WC on this floor. Climb the stairs to the first floor, an open-plan room finished with a clever mix of reclaimed treasures and soft furnishings. A lounge area is warmed by a wood burner where you can sink into the deep, soft leather sofas. There’s a great space for the chef to get creative, equipped with an electric oven and gas hob, microwave, AGA, fridge and separate freezer and dishwasher. And when supper has been prepared, take a seat in one of the hand-carved high-back chairs and enjoy the views across the land. There is a shower room with a shower and WC and a further separate WC on this floor.
Step directly from your first-floor door onto a stunning glass balcony equipped with sun loungers, parasol and table and chairs, and a magical valley view that will draw you in, night after night. Also for your own private use, a fully fenced grass garden is accessed via steps down from the balcony with solar lights, picnic bench, umbrella, BBQ and rustic BBQ preparation table. You are also free to enjoy the shared grounds with an outdoor pool which is available between 30th April and 30th September, and solar heated during July and August, English country gardens and acres of woodlands to explore. Although holiday guests are not able to go into the exotic rescue centre, which is located on the same site, there is a backdrop of exotic animal sounds and some glimpses in the fields and woodlands, amongst the many farm animals and donkeys. The income from the holiday business is directly used to fund the rescue centre. For further details search WildSide Exotic Rescue Forest of Dean.
