Enjoying a peaceful location in the grounds of the owner's house, this charming stone bothy is surrounded by mature gardens, located on the hillside on the edge of the medieval village of Clyro.

The bothy is set into the hillside on the edge of Clyro, a small settlement situated on the Welsh border, and just 2.5 miles from the popular town of Hay-on-Wye, where you will find cafes, restaurants, and the world-famous bookshops. Enjoy rambles along the banks of the River Wye and seek out The Warren, a pretty spot for wild swimming. Browse the craft shops set within the grounds of the ancient castle and pick up a souvenir. Discover the stunning scenery of the Brecon Beacons National Park by foot, with access to the rugged landscape of the National Trust’s The Begwns, where you can enjoy spectacular views or take on the Hay Bluff and Twmpa where you gain further access into the Black Mountains. Both the Wye Valley and Offa’s Dyke trails run through Hay-on-Wye, offering traffic-free walking.

Located up a quiet lane, this lovely retreat enjoys a peaceful location within the owner’s grounds. Step through the front door where you will be pleasantly surprised with the vaulted ceilings and Velux windows enjoying the natural light. The studio offers open-plan living that has been cleverly configured by the owner. The hallway offers space for coats and boots and then continues to the main living area where you have a lounge with Smart TV, a small collection of books and board games, a dining table, and chairs for two. The galley kitchen has been well-equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, and fridge with ice compartment. There is a washing machine and drying room available on site. To the rear of the studio, you will find a comfortable double bed with reading lamps and a storage area. There is a shower room with a shower and WC.

Outside, guests can enjoy a private garden with a table, chairs, and BBQ. Guests are also welcome to enjoy the grounds along with access to the countryside. There is parking for one car and secure bike storage.

We had a very comfortable stay at the Studio. Sarah and Jim were very welcoming and helpful. The property was warm, cosy and well equipped. It is also located close to Hay on Wye which is definitely worth a visit.

Sarah was an exceptional host. Really helpful with things to do around the area. Her two dogs, Diva (super friendly girl) and Stanley (a little nervous and barked but totally harmless) were both adorable and great with my little dog, Heidi. The studio is the perfect retreat, whether you just want to laze around all day or get out and about. Enjoyed our stay very much. Appreciated the tiled floor as we had Milo. The little courtyard was really useful for us to let the dog into too (although he soon worked out how to jump over the wall. Well equipped and comfortable. Sarah and Jim, you were so helpful suggesting walks and areas to go with Milo and telling us about the coffee and cake WeRead morednesday from 11-2 in Clyro which worked out so well with a brook walk. Excellent accomodation. Just right for two people and a dog. Out of the way location. Quiet and peaceful. Excellent gardens for our dog and a court yard to the property for sunbathing or just relaxing outside. Accommodation to a high standard.

Excellent accommodation, the studio was well equipped, containing everything you needed and was immaculately clean. The location was peaceful and tranquil with stunning views away from the hustle and bustle of daily life but only approximately 1.5 miles into quaint town of Hay-on-Wye and the scenic walks down by the river Wye. very clean, comfortable, well equipped studio apartment next to owners cottage, who are very friendly and helpful. It's quite remote and so a car is essential and eating out would mean driving to Hay on Wye. This wasn't a problem for us as we tended to be out all day and then cook something in the evening. Excellent well laid out accommodation, adequately furnished and well equipped. Beautiful location with Hay on Wye within a couple of miles stroll. Owners were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them with a lovely little welcome of biscuits, crisps & milk. Would certainly return.

What a beautiful place to stay. The studio had everything we needed. We loved the space, peacefulness and tranquility of the place. It was a fantastic base for exploring the surrounding beauty, Hay-on-Wye as well as other places a little further away. We were sad to leave. Highly recommend.

Just a lovely place to stay and relax, and for the more adventurous a great base, to explore the lovely surroundings and location. Some amazing wildlife can be seen in the nearby woods. The hosts were excellent, the facilities were top notch, the care package was well received, especially those chocolate cookies. We really enjoyed staying at the Old Forest House (Studio) for a week and have rebooked again for the same week next year. For us, location was excellent (yes, it is up a long steep road, but not a big deal from our POV).
