This stylish Grade II-listed cottage is set halfway up King Charles Steps, a charming flight of cobbled steps situated below the cathedral and within 500 metres of the vibrant town centre. The Welsh town of Brecon is the ideally located for lovers of the outdoors. As well as its Georgian architecture, you can follow Captain's Walk to see the remains of Brecon's medieval walls or visit The Royal Welsh Regimental Museum at Brecon Barracks (0.5 miles). Take advantage of good weather to cruise the canal that links Brecon with Newport. The area is steeped in history with some of Europe’s finest surviving castles: Brecon Castle (0.5 miles) overlooking the River Usk, Abergavenny Castle (20.5 miles) and Crickhowell Castle (14 miles) set against the spectacular hills. Local attractions include The Big Pit National Coal Museum, Blaenavon Iron Works (both 24 miles) and the National Showcaves Centre (19 miles).

The cottage can only be reached by foot, across a small foot bridge that will bring you to the front door. The accommodation has been fully modernised, though retaining many original features and is spread across three floors. The first floor accessed from the footbridge offers a cosy lounge with a wood burner, enjoying natural light from the picture windows, and exposed stone walls. There is comfortable seating and a Smart TV. This floor also offers access to a spacious bathroom with a free-standing bath, a shower and a WC. A staircase leads to the lower ground floor where there’s a spacious kitchen/diner with doors that open onto a small courtyard. This is a great space for entertaining, finished with a well-equipped kitchen and a generously sized table and bench for hearty suppers, and the Everhot electric stove can provide warmth in the chillier months. The second floor offers guests the choice of two bedrooms, a twin room and a double room both enjoying views onto the cobbled walkway.

Outside, guests can relax in the small courtyard that has an open aspect straight onto the cobbled walkway. There is a table and chairs for summer dining and a covered area which is perfect for storing bikes.
